  • Our annual Christmas Potluck at the home of Ray and Susan Kmetiuk was a wonderful gathering.   Thanks for hosting AND leading the packing of the 40 gift bags for our Youth HQ Xmas project.   John Johnson was deeply touched by our Club’s initiative for his teens.
  • Outreach Christmas Dinner on December 19th at the Golden Circle – Thanks to Sonja Ikovic for organizing this activity.   Helen deBruyckere confirmed that it was a good experience.  The $5 Gift Cards from McDonalds (great idea Lynn Stegman) were a hit.   Leslee Burton received a letter from the Monica Morrison, Executive Director to thank us.  “On behalf of the Board of Directors, the seniors and the staff and I want to thank you for your generous donation to help make our Outreach Christmas party a success.  I understand from my staff that you were a big help and that the guests really appreciated you being there.  Your Santa gift was also appreciated. We hope that we can continue this relationship in the future.”
  • Rebel’s Game 50/50 December 30 -- Confirmed that all went well with sales of ~ $11,000.
  • Confirmed that the 8th Annual “Fifty Shades of Service” virtual auction will go live on March 25.   Between now and then put on your thinking caps as to what item you can contribute.   Connect with Judy-Ann Wybenga directly with details.   Thanks to Johan Steenwyk for sponsoring the $125 US fee on the 32auctions website.  See ATTACHED info sheet.
  • Rotary Friendship Exchange is being planned for Brazil in the Fall of 2020.  Dwaine Souveny has graciously accepted the role of “Contact.”

    • Judy-Ann Wybenga $6   Hosted an Engagement Party with Johan on Dec 28 for daughter Hannah and her fiancée – Life’s a Beach.  Now officially the Mother of the Bride.
    • Ray Kmetiuk $2+   Enjoyed spending time with family & friends especially tobogganing.
    • John Dicken $5+   Enjoyed spending time with family.
    • Frank Bauer $40+    Basement renovation is finally done.  1st anniversary of his Mom’s passing.   Pleased to announce that the Central Alberta Refugee Effort (CARE) is celebrating 40 years of service.  Party being planned for March 6 and lots of other celebrations throughout the year that he will be bringing to our attention.
    • Helen deBruyckere  $10  Hosted her family for Xmas.  Hurrah for winning gold at the World Juniors Hockey tournament on Sunday.  Saddened by the news of the plane crash in Tehran yesterday.
    • Meaghan Maskcowitz $2   Happy for family and friends.  Grateful that her daughter is recovering from pneumonia.
    • Leslee Burton $2    Quiet Xmas and then off to her parent’s place.  Had a memorable sleigh ride led by a pair of gorgeous strong Belgian horses
    • Callie Beamish $2+   Yes she is getting married and the date has been set for August 29.   Her Dad is VERY excited about the upcoming nuptuals and wedding planning.  The two new puppies Beans and Stolley are terrific playmates and are exhausted by the end of the day.
    • Lynn Stegman $2   Great Xmas with family and friends.  Grandchild #3, Theo is now 4 months old.  Grateful for good travel weather over the holidays.
    • Susan Walker $2    Had a nice time with family over the holidays.  Don is doing well health wise and is back working for an oil industry job in Nova Scotia for the next 6 months.
    • Susan Kmetiuk $2+  Really enjoyed family and friends time over Xmas especially outdoor activities given the mild weather.  Her Red Rider Sled (circa 1960) makes her the fastest one down the hill.  In her own words “she smoked the competition.”
    • Ed Grose $2 IOU   Had a great family Xmas including hiking and cross country skiing.  Confirmed that his two coy fish survived the play date with his daughter’s dog.   Luna loves to fish apparently.  Happily the fish were back in their winter bath in the knick of time once their absence was confirmed by Luna’s wet face and look of remorse.
    • Bill Farr $2   Quiet Christmas which was very nice.   Looking forward to taking part in the Dawe Library Reading program along with Leslee, Sonja and Zainabh.
